Julia Burns
Chief Financial Officer
Julia Burns oversees all aspects of CEO’s financial operations. In this capacity, she manages accounting & audit work, grants accounting & reporting, financial planning & analysis, payroll & insurance coverage, Treasury management, as well as oversight of CEO’s Investments. As CFO, she works closely with the Executive team, CEO program leaders, and the Board of Directors.
Prior to CEO, Julia worked as the Chief Financial and Operating Officer for Potential Energy Coalition and its sister company, Potential Energy Action Network. She was instrumental in those nonprofits’ expansion to over $75 million in annual revenues. Prior to joining Potential Energy, she was the Chief Financial Officer of the Child Mind Institute (CMI), a nonprofit with two affiliated medical practices. CMI doubled in size during her tenure and, together with its medical practices, has an operating budget today of over $125 million. Earlier in her career, Ms. Burns served as the Director, Global Strategy at Wolters Kluwer, a $2 billion professional media corporation. And she was the Group Finance Director for Domestic Print Publishing – a $1 billion division - and Global Electronic Publishing – a $330 million division - respectively at Dow Jones.
Ms. Burns is a graduate of Trinity College (Hartford, CT) and Columbia Business School. She also holds a Certificate in nonprofit management from the Kennedy School at Harvard University.
