Black History Month Business Spotlight: Raymond
Meet Raymond, the determined founder of Safety Above All LLC, a company dedicated to ensuring workplace safety in the construction industry. Starting his journey during a challenging 22-year prison term, Raymond envisioned a future where he could make a significant impact. Upon release, his first steps were facilitated by the Center for Employment Opportunities (CEO) in New York City, which helped him navigate the drastically changed world and acquire certifications.
Raymond's commitment to safety became apparent when he refused to compromise on unsafe work conditions. This decision led him to the Local 79 Mason Tenders Union and eventually to founding his own business. Safety Above All, LLC now offers comprehensive safety services, including consulting and training, focusing on the groundbreaking Edgemere Commons project in Far Rockaway, Queens—a $100 million redevelopment poised to create jobs and drive economic growth.
Driven by a philosophy of self-determination inspired by Marcus Garvey and a passion for community empowerment, Raymond's story turns adversity into opportunity. Through Safety Above All, LLC, he not only promotes safety but also provides pathways for empowerment and education, echoing his belief in the power of self-education and community service.
This Black History Month, we celebrate Raymond's journey from incarceration to innovation, highlighting his dedication to safety and growth within his community.
