Nonny Onyekweli


Nonny Onyekweli is a litigation attorney at Skadden Arps in New York City. Her legal commercial work focuses on complex litigation in federal and state courts and she has worked on a variety of disputes including commercial litigation, class actions, merger and acquisition-related litigation, and securities litigation. Nonny maintains an active pro bono practice focused on immigration matters, racial justice, and family law. Previously, Nonny has worked as an immigration public defender at the Legal Aid Society through the New York Immigration Family Unity Program (NYIFUP). She also served as a member of the Cleveland Police Monitoring Team, which was charged with overseeing federal government-mandated police reform in the City of Cleveland following the death of Tamir Rice, a 12-year-old Black boy. Originally from Prince George's County, MD, Nonny holds a J.D. from New York University School of Law and a B.A. in psychology from the University of Maryland.

Nonny is also a storyteller. Her writing is featured in numerous publications including the Washington Post, Slate, Shondaland, and the Grio.

Nonny enjoys all things Brooklyn related, traveling, playing soccer, and visiting outdoor markets. She is also a podcast-enthusiast and a fitness aficionado.
