This appears to be a great opportunity for ex-offenders. Please have another gathering like this this immediately or next month in Manhattan. There are so many men who lack skills and confidence. So many men after incarceration and even before they are released are severly stressed over not having a place to reside, employment, broken family ties and worries of the victims and or their families retaliating against them upon release.

How do these men secure a release address when imprisoned out of state and are returning home to their community in New York from Virginia for example. How do they reintegrate into society after being imprisoned since for over a decade?

This is the forum that needs to be addressed for these men. How do they function in society upon release since they left off with over a decade of abscence from the streets/society. This is a receipe for failure a cocktail for recidivism.

I have been to so many lectures hear stories but with no resolve. I have a story to tell as a Prison Wife. I need help and guidance. I have done well for myself educationally but cant secure housing for us due to his conviction. I cant afford a home yet and I am still working on my skills. This is a burden to carry for a man, a family trying to regain his life back and prove not only to himself but to society he can make it if given/assisted withthe needed tools.

It's not enough to say go to workshops and get documents is all to it. Thats a farce. The average person has issues with that so how can we promote such a weak stance and expect thes men to thrive and if they don't society blames them for not trying and are prone to go back to prison because thats the only life they know.

Society didnt make ot easy or assist with any real effort. Real people with real result to assist these men from a life of unbeneficial acts of talk and meetings. I have kept notes and plan to write a book on my experiences however I don't have support because im sure im not the only one with concerns.

I ask that someone at your organization contacts me with guidance. Thank you inadvance.

This sounds like a great organization and one that is essential. I live in Oregon and we do not have a similar program here. Is there a way I could become involved and begin organizing such an effort in Oregon?
